Role

A key member of the Finance team, responsible for the processing Payroll and the end to end process on Sage 50 and Excel

Will work closely with the Management Accountant and Financial Controller to ensure timely and accurate Payroll processing is achieved monthly

Opportunity to play an instrumental role in shaping the Payroll team throughout a period of significant growth (Achieved 100% of target growth for 20-21)

Develop processes and controls and ensure that all departments are fully trained and adhering to them

Responsibilities

- Responsible for processing the monthly payroll for 700+ employees, ensuring the accuracy of payroll and enabling the monthly payment to all employees

- Full ownership of the whole payroll process including the complexities of multiple departments with timesheet entry, different bonus structures, cycle to work scheme, variations to contracts and other ad hoc payment types

- Responsible for understanding and processing SMP, SPP, and SHPP as per employee requests – including pension wishes

- Responsible for maintaining the Pension enrolments and management of postponements, opt-in and opt-out notifications

- Responsible for ensuring that Pension Contributions are submitted on time and that all PAYE, AOE & Child Maintenance payments are all made on time

- Ensuring that the monthly Expenses are reviewed and authorised before making the payments and reconciling the account

- Ensuring that the monthly reconciliations and journals for the Payroll are posted to the ledger

- Developing processes and controls for the organisation to ensure timely information is acquired, and ensuring that all departments are adhering to the monthly processes

- Working closely with HR and other departments to ensure accurate information is being communicated

- Assisting the Management Accountant with providing financial information to the business and completing ad-hoc financial and business projects

Skills

- Experience of working in a pressured environment, delivering against tight deadlines

- Experience of working within company and ethical rules and regulations

- Experience of working in a highly accurate environment

- Minimum 3 years working in a relevant role

- Commercially focussed

- Ability to communicate confidently with people at all levels

- Attention to detail in all aspects of role – consistently produces work to the highest standard

- Ability to use Excel at an advanced level
